DRAFTING At the TSAFEA Annual Muster, both antique and new fire engines will have an opportunity to draft off the Allegheny River on Pittsburgh's  North Shore at Clemente Park.  

TRUCK SHOW Many fire trucks will be parked in the Heinz Field lot and  on North Shore Drive

PRIZES / AWARDS  Prizes and awards are listed below, including Fire Trucks, Kids Games, and  Dalmatians

The preservation of these old vehicles carries with it the memory of those who used this equipment to protect public safety, save human life, preserve property, and promote fire safety.  As we display these old fire trucks we remember and salute those who ran on this equipment and served the fire department and those who lost their lives and limbs in doing so.  As we demonstrate pumping ability the streams of water serve as a salute to the men and women of the fire service past, present, and future. 

Pumping water out of a body of water “Drafting” is a age old method of demonstrating pumping ability of a fire engine.  Drafting is used to train, to test, and to demonstrate the ability to “throw” water.  It is also a method by which the National Fire Protection Association tests the worthiness of fire engines.  These certifications must be completed periodically on fire engine and these tests have actually been performed at our annual muster since it is a method for many fire engines to access a body of water which they may not have in their own communities.

Lastly, fun is a part of the muster in watching the children enjoy the fire trucks, participate in a bucket brigade or squirting water on a target, or buying a toy or piece of fire related apparel.
